Hi, my name is Tyler Brauch! During the school year, I’m a middle school math teacher for MCPS! I have been an educator for 10 years now, with experience teaching just about everything! My favorite subjects are math, science and anything STEM related. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Some of my hobbies include going on walks with my family, fishing, playing basketball and collecting sports cards and Pokemon cards! Alison Lennie is a Bethesda native and a student at Colgate University, expecting to graduate in December 2024 with a major in religious studies and a minor in pure mathematics. After graduation, she hopes to continue onto graduate school to pursue a career in education. Outside of the classroom at Colgate, Alison volunteers in the community, teaching local kids math and ice skating. When she is not studying religious theory or math, Alison enjoys Ultimate Frisbee, playing with her dog, watching Jeopardy, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.
Embark on an exciting journey of creativity and problem-solving with our Lego Robotics Jr. – Rubik’s Cube Challenge! This engaging camp offers your child a hands-on introduction to engineering and mathematical concepts through the fascinating world of robotics.Throughout the course, participants will dive into a series of captivating projects that involve problem-solving and the development of fundamental robotic construction skills. Armed with the Everstorm Lego Kit and the Mindcuber Lego Robot, students will not only explore the intricacies of robotics components but also venture into the exciting realm of coding to conquer Lego Rubik’s cubes and other mind-bending puzzles. Our young engineers will leave the course not only with the satisfaction of having cracked the code to solving Rubik’s cubes but also with valuable knowledge on how to debug basic code and a foundational understanding of robotics.

The AI Builders: Lego tech Innovators or machine learning course will teach older children one of the most popular subjects in STEM! Students will work with a STEM professional to explore the foundations of AI and ideas of machine learning using advanced Lego Robotics tools. By the completion of the course, students will have learned how to customize robots using the Lego EV3 technology, and develop their problem solving and design skills.

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.F.A in Communication Arts, Mr. Simbisai Kahari has been passionate about STEAM & STEM education and has led CCACC Academy’s science and technology-related programs. In addition to teaching, Simbisai has painted and illustrated for over ten years, and designed (Graphic & Web Design) for the past three years. Simbisai currently resides in DC teaching robotics and technology. During his college years, Simbisai worked and educated at-risk youth at Elk Hill Farms and assisted in running and producing work out of the Hill Gallery.

Using knowledge of the scientific method and STEM education, older students will perform more complex experiments related to temperature, plants, and other parts of the world around us. Campers will learn how to use different scientific tools to do experiments and record their observations more accurately, as well as how to take experiments one step further with the addition of materials , developing their own inventions, and making scientific proofs and prototypes.

With the Digital Art Dabblers: Intro to Graphic Design & Illustration course campers can experience using professional digital art tools for their own work! Campers ages 9+ will use various artistic design applications and programs to explore and create still graphics and works of art on the computer. Campers will complete the course with knowledge on editing photos, the nuances of typography, layout of images, and how images and text are compiled together. Advanced Cyber Guardians: Little Hacker & White Hat, an intensive course for tech-savvy minds aged 10-13!
